IGBA, the International Generic and Biosimilar medicines Association, representing global manufacturers of generic and biosimilar medicines, announced today that AMIP has been accepted and welcomed as a new IGBA Associate Member.

AMIP is the Moroccan Pharmaceutical Industry Association, representing the most important generic and biosimilar manufacturing laboratories established in Morocco.

“We are very pleased to welcome the Moroccan Association AMIP as a new member”, commented Adrian van den Hoven, IGBA Chair. “As part of IGBA’s mission to remain the global voice of the generic and biosimilar medicines industries, we are delighted to welcome a new member from Morocco, which is of great importance to the Eastern Mediterranean region”.

AMIP’s President Dr. Mohamed El Bouhmadi, commented “AMIP is honoured and excited to join the IGBA family and to be part of it as an associate member. Our AMIP association fully shares the objectives of IGBA. We look forward and are enthusiastic about working towards greater access to generic medicines and biosimilar medicines and effective regulatory systems, which will certainly lead to better access to life-saving medicines, both in the region and globally”.

Susana Almeida, Secretary General of IGBA, highlighted “the importance of IGBA’s increasingly global footprint and of regulatory convergence for generic and biosimilar products along with the harmonisation of standards relating to the quality of generic and biosimilar pharmaceutical products, which will benefit patient access to quality controlled generic and biosimilar medicines”.
